ORA-02036: too many variables to describe with automatic cursor open

What triggered the Error:

User requested that the UPI bundled execution call perform automatic cursor open and close on a describe operation. There were too many select-list items or bind variables to do this.

What should we do to fix it:

open and close cursor explicitly
